When asking us to consider including your mat, please follow these guidelines:

  • Terrapin can only publish art that is in the public domain and is royalty-free, or for which specific permission has been granted to use the image for commercial use. We cannot, for example, use copyrighted artwork that appears in children’s books. However, it is possible to find similar artwork that is available in collections of public domain to use. We did this for the “Acorn Was a Little Wild” mat.

  • You can create and send us a mat that uses the free artwork from the websites listed below. Let us know where you found the images by sending us the links to the images’ web pages. Here is an example of a link to a specific image.

At this site, please select ‘No restrictions’ in the ‘License’ drop-down menu after you have made a search.

  • You can edit the images you find at these websites for use in your mat.

  • Bee-Bot mats are rectangular in shape, typically a 4x4, 5x5, 4x5, 4x6, 6x6, 7x7, or 8x8 grid. Mats with a 4x4 or 4x5 grid haves boxes that are 150x150 pixels in size, but larger mats have 100x100 pixel boxes. We can assist you in the creation of the final mat if you decide what you want it to look like and provide usable images.

  • Bee-Bot can start in the center of any box on the mat and point at any orientation. Please let us know where on the mat you want Bee-Bot to start.

  • Please include instructions for students so that other teachers know how to use the mat. The instructions can be submitted in plain text or in a PDF.

Depending on the number of teacher-created mats in our collection, we may need to limit the amount of time a mat remains online. This is especially true for seasonal mats. We will keep you informed.

Please let us know if you have any questions about creating or submitting your mat.
Send an email to info@terrapinlogo.com and we will get back to you within 2 days.
