Welcome to the Logo Learning Center!
The Logo programming language includes over 600 commands. How will you ever learn how to use them all? You probably won’t. But you can start by learning a few dozen commands that you will use over and over. There are many more that you will use now and then.
How can you learn to program in Logo?
If you or your school has a license to use Logo, you have access to two valuable books: Logo Works: Lessons in Logo and 101+ Ideas for Logo. They are digital books because you read and refer to them online, in a browser. Learn more about these books and also the weekly Turtle Tuesday Logo challenge in the Getting Started section.
This Logo Learning Center is designed to help those just starting out with Logo. Here you will find the most common commands and learn how to use them. It is an easy-to-understand reference guide to help you see how the commands work. For each command, there is a description of what it does, examples for using it, and things to try. The commands will help you work on the 101+ Ideas for Logo projects as well as the Turtle Tuesday Logo challenges.
You can think of the Logo Learning Center as a guided tour of the most commonly used commands, with examples and tips for using them.
What commands aren’t included here? Mainly, those relating to arrays, grids, macros, robots, higher math functions, predefined properties, file commands, and advanced event handling. You can refer the main Logo Manual for information about these commands. As you gain more experience with Logo, give them a try!
