...Free Camera Makes Tuff-Bot a Mars Rover

Get a free Robot Sports Camera with each Tuff-Bot ordered and turn Tuff-Bot into a Mars rover! With its oversize wheels, sealed body, and long steps, Tuff-Bot is a Rugged Robot, able to traverse grass, gravel, sand, asphalt, carpet, and a wide range of surfaces.

Equipped with a camera, Tuff-Bot can take photos or send back video as it explores. Add a Data Logging Backpack and collect light, temperature, and humidity data as well. Students can use Tuff-Bot to explore their environment, including places they might not be able to go themselves.

Terrapin 'Bots Reach Them All in Tennessee

Terrrapin is proud that Bee-Bot, Blue-Bot, and Pro-Bot are part of Tennessee's Reach Them All Initiative. Reach Them All brings computer science to every district, school, and classroom in Tennessee through a train-the-trainer model. Delegates and ambassadors from each district receive training and tools to help their teachers incorporate computer science into their classes.

Bee-Bots, Blue-Bots, and Pro-Bots are used in training for elementary grades along with access to Bee-Bot Lessons and Pro-Bot Lessons. As noted in the online training course, "These three programming devices were selected because of their proven ability to connect computer science programming to academic content." According to Stephanie Zeiger, Reach Them All trainer, "Teachers walk away with understanding the natural fits and connections with their curriculum and computer science and computational thinking. We want them to see how computational thinking and computer science enhances student learning."

As Andraya Chase from the Shelby County Schools put it after participating in the training, "I envision teaching my students that computer science is not just using technology. It's the way you think. It's the way we're going to analyze information using our critical thinking skills."
