Introducing the new FUN-damental Skills Mat Bundle! This set of five mats for Bee-Bots or Blue-Bots reinforces early literacy and math skills that are so critical for young learners to master.

• 1 Alphabet Mat + 2 decks of Alphabet Cards

• 1 CVC Word Mat + 2 decks of CVC Cards

• 1 Number Line Mat

• 1 Shapes, Colors, and Size Mat

• 1 U.S. Coin Mat

Using these mats and the lesson ideas in Terrapin Resources, you can engage your students in learning the skills you already teach—in a new way. All you need are some 'bots!

These mats are incorporated into Bee-Bot Lessons, a set of 200 classroom and online learning activities that are also great for Blue-Bots!

The FUN-damental Skills Mat Bundle is priced at a 15% discount. Add it to your shopping cart for free US shipping through June for it and everything else in the same shopping cart.

Our other new Going Places Mat Bundle lets students send their 'bots on fun journeys as they explore geography, coordinates, and directions. Have them create stories about all they encounter!

Bee-Bot Research: Bridging the Computer Science Gap

With a lack of qualified Computer Science (CS) teachers in K–12 schools in California, particularly those in underserved communities, there are gaps in student access to CS experiences.

Researchers Ashley Ruiz and Mahya Minaiy set out to develop a project to provide engaging computer science experiences for kindergarten students that also offer professional development opportunities for both preservice and inservice teachers. Central to the project are Bee-Bots. In one activity, students program Bee-Bots to transport "pollen" from the flower to the hive.

Ashley and Mahya recently gave a poster presentation on this topic titled "Broadening Computer Science Participation in Kindergarten through Capacity Building" at the 2025 AACTE (American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education) Annual Meeting in Long Beach, California.

The presenters are from SNAP Inc. Institute for Technology & Education (SITE) at California State University, Dominguez Hills.
