Introducing the Pro-Bot Test Drive Program

Pro-Bot Test Drive Bundle with Pro-Bot, Robot Pen Pack, and 30-day Pro-Bot Lessons trial

Ready to take the next step?

Qualified educators can receive a free Pro-Bot to try with students — and it is yours to keep. Pro-Bot builds on the familiar hands-on experience of Bee-Bot and Blue-Bot while opening the door to precise movement, geometry, repeat loops, procedures, sensors, and more.

A Natural Next Step After Bee-Bot and Blue-Bot

Bee-Bot and Blue-Bot give students an engaging foundation in sequencing, direction, estimation, and problem solving. When they are ready for greater precision and more sophisticated programming, Pro-Bot lets them build on those familiar ideas instead of starting over.

Build the Foundation with Bee-Bot and Blue-Bot

  • Sequence movements
  • Plan routes and solve problems
  • Learn through hands-on floor-robot activities
  • Develop early computational thinking

Move Up to Pro-Bot

  • Enter exact distances and turning angles
  • See/edit programs on Pro-Bot's built-in display
  • Use repeat loops and reusable procedures
  • Draw geometric shapes and designs
  • Program responses to touch, light, and sound

No Tablet. No Chromebook. No App. Just Pro-Bot.

Just like Bee-Bot and Blue-Bot, Pro-Bot is self-contained. Students program and control it directly from the keypad, and its built-in screen displays the program they create. No separate computer, tablet, phone, or other device is required to program the physical robot.

Why that matters in the classroom: less setup, fewer devices to manage, and a direct connection between the code students enter and the robot they see moving in front of them.

What Can Students Explore with Pro-Bot?

Precise Movement

Move specified distances and turn through exact angles rather than relying only on fixed steps and 90-degree turns.

Geometry You Can See

Put a pen in Pro-Bot and turn coding into visible lines, angles, polygons, and creative designs.

Repeat Loops

Recognize patterns, shorten programs, and discover why efficient code can also reveal the structure of a problem.

Procedures

Store and reuse groups of commands, introducing students to decomposition and modular programming.

Multiple Sensors

Use touch, light, and sound sensors to make Pro-Bot respond to its environment.

Debugging and Problem Solving

Students can see their program on the built-in display, run it, analyze the result, make changes, and try again.

Your Free Pro-Bot Test Drive

If your application is approved, Terrapin will send you a discount code that lets you order the complete Pro-Bot Test Drive at no cost. ($45 for shipment outside the U.S.)

Pro-Bot

The rechargeable, self-contained programmable floor robot with charging cable.

Pro-Bot Pen Pack

Multi-colored pens for Pro-Bot to use to draw its route, create geometric figures, and turn programs into visible designs.

Pro-Bot Lessons Trial

Teacher guidance, student activities, worksheets, geometry lessons, and online emulator activities to help you get started.

And yes — the Pro-Bot and Pen Pack are yours to keep. There is no purchase requirement and no robot to return when the Test Drive is over.

How the Test Drive Works

  1. Apply. Tell us about your school, library, STEM center, or educational organization and how you might use Pro-Bot.
  2. Get approved. We review all applications and will let you know promptly.
  3. Order for $0. If approved, we email you a discount code to order the Pro-Bot Test Drive at no cost. (A $45 shipping charge applies to international orders.)
  4. Take the Test Drive. Try Pro-Bot yourself and with students. We send a short series of emails with guided activities and video tutorials.
  5. Decide what comes next. Keep your Pro-Bot. If it is a good fit, consider how additional Pro-Bots could expand learning about coding, math, STEM, or robotics at your location.

Who Should Apply?

The Pro-Bot Test Drive is intended for educators who work for a school, library, district, STEM center, afterschool program, or other educational organization and who are willing to try Pro-Bot with students and consider whether additional Pro-Bots could benefit their program.

Pro-Bot is designed primarily for students in grades 3–8, though educators use it with a wider age range. It is especially well suited for classrooms moving beyond Bee-Bot or Blue-Bot, computer labs, STEM programs, robotics clubs, coding classes, afterschool programs, libraries, and enrichment settings.

See What Happens When Students Get Their Hands on Pro-Bot

At one Family Night event, a teacher watched one boy return to Pro-Bot again and again because he wanted to “try just one more thing.”

That kind of experimentation is exactly what Pro-Bot encourages. Students can predict, program, test, revise, and often discover new ways to use the robot that surprise the adults around them.

Another educator initially sought funding for 12 Pro-Bots and received funding for 24, with additional Pro-Bots funded in later years. Read the customer story.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I really get to keep the Pro-Bot?

Yes. The Pro-Bot and Pen Pack are free for approved Test Drive participants to keep. There are no strings attached and no purchase required.

Is shipping free?

Shipping is free to U.S. addresses. International shipments have a $45 shipping charge.

Does Pro-Bot need a tablet, Chromebook, phone, or computer?

No. Pro-Bot is self-contained and is programmed directly from its onboard keypad. Its built-in display shows the program. The free Pro-Bot Online Emulator is available as an additional resource, but another device is not required to program and control the physical Pro-Bot.

How will I learn to use it?

We will send you a series of short Test Drive emails that introduce Pro-Bot step by step, with video tutorials and activities. You will also have a 30-day trial of Pro-Bot Lessons and access to Terrapin's online Pro-Bot resources.

What is included in Pro-Bot Lessons?

Pro-Bot Lessons includes guided explorations, teacher implementation notes, video tutorials, how-to sheets, student lessons and worksheets, geometry activities, Route Mat challenges, and activities integrated with the Pro-Bot Online Emulator.

How can we fund additional Pro-Bot if the Test Drive is successful?

Schools have used parent groups, local grants, STEM funding, school fundraising, and community support. The strongest case often comes from documenting what students actually learn while using Pro-Bot — especially growth in math, geometry, computational thinking, and problem solving.

Can I try Pro-Bot before my application is approved?

Yes. Use the free Pro-Bot Online Emulator in any modern browser while your application is being reviewed.

Ready to See Where Your Students Can Go After Bee-Bot and Blue-Bot?

Give them a robot that keeps the hands-on simplicity they know while opening the door to more precise coding, geometry, procedures, sensors, and increasingly sophisticated problem solving.
