Guided Activities for Teachers and Students

These lessons will help teachers introduce students to Tuff-Bot and guide them in learning how to operate and code with this fun robot. Learn how to get the most out of your Tuff-Bot!

If students are familiar with Bee-Bot, Blue-Bot, or Pro-Bot, the transition is easy. If they are new to robots, they will easily learn to navigate Tuff-Bot in a variety of situations. Tuff-Bot is designed for students in Grades 3–6, although it may be appropriate for other ages as well.

Unlike other robots, Tuff-Bot is designed to navigate environments where other robots cannot go. Tuff-Bot can travel over grass and dirt. It can cross over uneven terrain and even maneuver over small hills and very low barriers (like a ruler or yardstick). It has obstacle avoidance so if it encounters an object in its path, it backs up, turns, and goes in a different direction.

These lessons are open-ended, allowing opportunities for students to explore in many different ways. They will be creating their own challenges, sharing ideas and code with other students, and often working as a team. All this builds problem-solving, collaboration, and critical thinking skills.

These lessons are best done sequentially, although you can modify the order as desired. You and your students will find many new creative ways to explore with Tuff-Bot. Have fun!
