Bees Join Penguins to Promote STEAM
Bee-Bot and Kris Letang
Bee-Bot and the Pittsburgh Penguins share colors and support of STEAM education.
Bee-Bot joined NFL star Kris Letang and Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf to announce a new PAsmart Advancing Grant awarded to the Pittsburgh Penguins Foundation
The Penguins Foundation supports STEAM Lending Libraries across western Pennsylvania through a partnership with the Pennsylvania Association of Intermediate Units. Bee-Bots and accessories are among the tools purchased through the grant. The Intermediate Units provide training and resources in 22 counties covering 206 school districts, and over 400,000 students.
At the announcement, Penguins Foundation President Dave Soltesz stressed how important it is to have the right partners, like the Allegheny Intermediate Unit.
"This was a program that was bottom up. It percolated from teachers, curriculum directors, and then at the top we put it together. The best part is the program dealing with 10 intermediate units and allowing these intermediate units to provide professional development for the school district."
